The 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander

If you are looking for more power underneath your right foot, the all-new 2007
Outlander's 220 horsepower* 3.0-liter MIVEC V6 engine is perfect for hauling
heavy loads or your family and friends. If you want a more rewarding driving
experience, you'll love the 6speed Sportronic® transmission with manual
paddle shifters. They literally put driving performance at your fingertips.
You'll also appreciate the spacious amount of cargo room along with a
flap-fold tailgate that sports a low 25-inch lift-in height. Even bulky
items seem to just slide right in.

The 2007 Outlander is available with the latest technology, like the
FAST-key that provides keyless entry and starts the ignition. A digital
music server holds up to 1,200 songs, so you'll always have plenty of your
favorite music along for the ride. And when the tunes are blasting out of a
Rockford Fosgate® sound system, it makes all the difference. There's also a
seven-inch LCD touch screen navigation system to make sure you're always on
the right track.

2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse:

Consumer Guide® One To Watch Award
Fresh styling, more power, and added safety features keynote the redesigned 2006 Eclipse. This sporty hatchback coupe comes in 4-cyl GS and V6 GT models, both with front-wheel drive. Convertible versions are due for 2007. Most dimensions are little-changed from the 2000-2005 Eclipse, but the '06 coupes grow 3.3 inches wider and are some 360 lb heavier. Both come with front torso side airbags, previously limited to top-line models. Also standard are head-protecting curtain side airbags that cover the front seating row only. The GS's 2.4-liter engine goes from 147 hp to 162. The GT's V6 grows from a 210-hp 3.0-liter to a 263-hp 3.8. Both come with manual transmission--a 5-speed for the GS, a 6-speed for the GT. Automatic transmissions with manual shift gate are optional: a 4-speed for GS, a 5-speed for GT. Traction control is standard on GT, unavailable for GS. No antiskid system is offered. Antilock 4-wheel disc brakes are standard. So are 17-inch wheels; 18s are available for GT. Cruise control, power windows, and split folding rear seat also are standard. GT-exclusive options include aluminum pedals and leather upholstery with heated front seats. A sunroof is optional for both models

Mitsubishi Outlander Is A Charmer

By MALCOLM GUNN Wheelbase Communications
8/18/2006
It eventually happens to virtually every automotive segment, a little thing called progress. Automakers keep finding ways to make small and efficient vehicles bigger, more powerful, better equipped and more spacious.

The Outlander is still based on a car platform, only this time it uses the upcoming '08 Lancer's architecture. In doing so, overall length, width, height and wheelbase have all been increased.

Newly minted body panels have given the more-to-love Outlander a complete image makeover. Gone is the awkward stretched wagon shape of old, replaced by gritty, macho styling with big fender flares, optional 18-inch wheels, faux front skid plate and a ride height that at least hints at off-road agility.

The most innovative change to the body occurs at the rear. Once the liftgate has been raised, a lower tailgate drops level with the load floor (which is now eight inches lower than before) that supports 440 pounds.

The rear holds yet another surprise, the availability of a folding third-row bench seat that allows you to invite six friends along on your travels. The only requirement is that the rear-most passengers be short of stature since knee room is at a premium. The third row

folds flat into the load floor when not in use.

The standard 60/40 split second-row bench folds and tumbles forward to help create an even more expansive cargo area. Another significant Outlander upgrade becomes visible once the hood is opened. Replacing the previous 140-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine is a 3.0-liter V-6 that delivers 220 horsepower and 204 lb.-ft. of torque. The new motor connects to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The V-6 also manages to come within one or two mpg of the outgoing four-cylinder's fuel consumption rating, despite the extra horsepower and the fact that the new Outlander weighs about 300 pounds more than the old version.

More power and a tougher, larger chassis means the Out lander can tow up to 3,500 pounds, more than double that of the previous model.

Both the base LS and up-level XLS are available in front-or optional all-wheel drive.

Included on every Outlander is air conditioning, cruise control, keyless remote entry, six-speaker audio system, six air bags and power windows, locks and mirrors. All-wheel-drive-equipped Outlanders come with traction and stability control to keep the vehicle heading in the direction the driver intends.

A wide range of options, some of which are usually found on more luxurious vehicles, can be ordered on the Outlander, such as keyless push-button starting, navigation system, DVD entertainment unit, 650-watt stereo with a large and very visible subwoofer (to deliver lots of low-frequency sound), multi-adjustable power driver's seat and a leather-covered interior.
